The Forgotten Plan for a Domed City in the Arctic
In the late 1950s, a proposal was put forward to build a domed city in Frobisher Bay, a small Inuit community in the Canadian Arctic. The planned city, championed by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, would have been a self-sufficient community with its own infrastructure. Although the proposal was never implemented, it remains an important part of Canadian history.
